RESUMO

A key question in plant biology is how oriented cell divisions are integrated with patterning mechanisms to generate organs with adequate cell type allocation. In the root vasculature, a gradient of miRNA165/6 controls the abundance of HD-ZIP III transcription factors, which in turn control cell fate and spatially restrict vascular cell proliferation to specific cells. Here, we show that vascular development requires the presence of ARGONAUTE10, which is thought to sequester miRNA165/6 and protect HD-ZIP III transcripts from degradation. Our results suggest that the miR165/6-AGO10-HDZIP III module acts by buffering cytokinin responses and restricting xylem differentiation. Mutants of AGO10 show faster growth rates and strongly enhanced survival under severe drought conditions. However, this superior performance is offset by markedly increased variation and phenotypic plasticity in sub-optimal carbon supply conditions. Thus, AGO10 is required for the control of formative cell division and coordination of robust cell fate specification of the vasculature, while altering its expression provides a means to adjust phenotypic plasticity.

Purpose: Results from studies of extended capecitabine after the standard adjuvant chemotherapy in early stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) were inconsistent, and only low-dose capecitabine from the SYSUCC-001 trial improved disease-free survival (DFS). Adjustment of the conventional adjuvant chemotherapy doses affect the prognosis and may affect the efficacy of subsequent treatments. This study investigated whether the survival benefit of the SYSUCC-001 trial was affected by dose adjustment of the standard adjuvant chemotherapy or not. Patients and Methods: We reviewed the adjuvant chemotherapy regimens before the extended capecitabine in the SYSUCC-001 trial. Patients were classified into "consistent" (standard acceptable dose) and "inconsistent" (doses lower than acceptable dose) dose based on the minimum acceptable dose range in the landmark clinical trials. Cox proportional hazards model was used to investigate the impact of dose on the survival outcomes. Results: All 434 patients in SYSUCC-001 trial were enrolled in this study. Most of patients administered the anthracycline-taxane regimen accounted for 88.94%. Among patients in the "inconsistent" dose, 60.8% and 47% received lower doses of anthracycline and taxane separately. In the observation group, the "inconsistent" dose of anthracycline and taxane did not affect DFS compared with the "consistent" dose. Moreover, in the capecitabine group, the "inconsistent" anthracycline dose did not affect DFS compared with the "consistent" dose. However, patients with "consistent" taxane doses benefited significantly from extended capecitabine (P=0.014). The sufficient dose of adjuvant taxane had a positive effect of extended capecitabine (hazard ratio [HR] 2.04; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.02 to 4.06). Conclusion: This study found the dose reduction of adjuvant taxane might negatively impact the efficacy of capecitabine. Therefore, the reduction of anthracycline dose over paclitaxel should be given priority during conventional adjuvant chemotherapy, if patients need dose reduction and plan for extended capecitabine.

Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide-based memtransistors provide simulation, sensing, and storage capabilities for applications in a remotely operated aerospace environment. Swift heavy ion (SHI) irradiation technology is a common method to simulate the influences of radiation ions on electronic devices in space environments. Here, SHI irradiation technology under different conditions was utilized to produce complex defects in WSe2-based memtransistors. Low-resistance state to low-resistance state (LRS-LRS) switching behaviors under light illumination were achieved and photocurrent responses with different spike trains were observed in SHI-irradiated memtransistors, which facilitated the design of devices with enriched analog functions. Reduction of the Schottky barrier height due to the introduced defects at the metal/WSe2 interface was confirmed to be the major factor responsible for the observed behaviors. 1T phase and concentric circle-type vacancies were also created in the SHI-irradiated 2H-WSe2 channel besides the amorphous structure; these complex defects could seriously affect the transport properties of the devices. We believe that this work serves as a foundation for aerospace radiation applications of all-in-one devices. It also opens a new application field of heavy ion irradiation technology for the development of multiterminal memtransistor-based optoelectronic artificial synapses for neuromorphic computing.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the long-term cognitive function in children treated with intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) for retinopathy of prematurity(ROP), and the impact of IVR on the growth and ocular development. METHODS: In this retrospective study, the premature children aged 4 to 9 years who received monotherapy of IVR (IVR group, n = 25) or monotherapy of laser photocoagulation (LP) (LP group, n = 33) for ROP, and the same age premature children with no ROP (Control group, n = 26) were enrolled from 2020 to 2022 in the pediatric fundus clinic of Shenzhen Eye Hospital. Main outcome measures were full-scale intelligence quotient (FSIQ) and index score using the Chinese version of the Wechsler intelligence scale for children-fourth edition (WISC-IV) and Wechsler preschool and primary scale of intelligence-fourth edition (WPPSI-IV). All children were examined and analyzed for growth and ocular development by recording the height, weight, head circumference, spherical equivalent (SE), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and axial length (AL). RESULTS: There were 17 children in IVR group, 17 in LP group, and 11 in Control group who received the WISC-IV assessment. There were no significant differences in FSIQ, verbal comprehension index, perceptual reasoning index, working memory index, processing speed index, general ability index and cognitive efficiency index among the three groups. There were 8 children in IVR group, 16 in LP group, and 15 in Control group who received the WPPSI-IV assessment. There were no significant differences in FSIQ, verbal comprehension index, visuospatial index, fluid reasoning index, working memory index, non-verbal index, general ability index and cognitive efficiency index among the three groups. There was no significant difference in BCVA among the three groups (P = 0.74), however, there is an increase for AL in IVR group when compared with LP group (22.60 ± 0.58 vs. 22.13 ± 0.84, P = 0.003), and the ROP patients of IVR group have a significant increase in the AL compared to the Control group(22.60 ± 0.58 vs. 22.03 ± 0.71, P < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS: Children with a history of IVR have a similar cognitive function outcomes compared to those with a history of LP or were premature without ROP. ROP children with a history of IVR has longer AL than those treated with LP.

Introduction Parthenogenetic chimera is an extremely rare condition in human. Very few patients with parthenogenetic chimerism with XX/XY cells have been identified. Case Presentation We report the clinical findings and molecular analysis of chimerism with a 46,XX/46,XY karyotype in a patient presenting idiopathic oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT). To clarify the mechanism of chimera formation, short tandem repeat (STR) analysis using 21 loci was carried out. Quantitation of alleles in D6S1043, D12S391, fibrinogen alpha chain (FGA) and Amelogenin revealed double paternal and one maternal genetic contribution to the patient, which is consistent with a parthenogenetic chimerism. The likely mechanism of chimerism formation was also discussed, followed by a literature review. Conclusion This is the first documented case of parthenogenetic chimerism in an adult male with XX/XY cells presenting OAT. Improved cell sampling and more sensitive and specific detection methods are necessary to identify more patients with XX/XY chimerism for systematic studies on this condition in the future.

Single-photon time-of-flight (TOF) non-line-of-sight (NLOS) imaging enables the high-resolution reconstruction of objects outside the field of view. The compactness of TOF NLOS imaging systems, entailing the miniaturization of key components within such systems, is crucial for practical applications. Here, we present a miniaturized four-channel time-correlated single-photon counting module dedicated to TOF NLOS imaging applications. The module achieves excellent performance with a 10 ps bin size and 27.4 ps minimum root-mean-square time resolution. We present the results of the TOF NLOS imaging experiment using an InGaAs/InP single-photon detector and the time-correlated single-photon counting module and show that a 6.3 cm lateral resolution and 2.3 cm depth resolution can be achieved under the conditions of 5 m imaging distance and 1 ms pixel dwell time.

In rice-vegetable rotation systems in tropical areas, a large amount of nitrate nitrogen accumulates after fertilization in the melon and vegetable season, which leads to the leaching of nitrate nitrogen and a large amount of N2O emission after the seasonal flooding of rice, which leads to nitrogen loss and intensification of the greenhouse effect. How to improve the utilization rate of nitrate nitrogen and reduce N2O emissions has become an urgent problem to be solved. Six treatments were set up [200 mg·kg-1 KNO3 (CK); 200 mg·kg-1 KNO3 + 2% biochar addition (B); 200 mg·kg-1 KNO3+1% peanut straw addition (P); 200 mg·kg-1 KNO3 + 2% biochar + 1% peanut straw addition (P+B); 200 mg·kg-1 KNO3 + 1% rice straw addition (R); 200 mg·kg-1 KNO3 + 2% biochar+1% rice straw addition (R+B)] and cultured at 25℃ for 114 d to explore the effects of organic material addition on greenhouse gas emissions and nitrogen use after flooding in high nitrate nitrogen soil. The results showed that compared with that in CK, adding straw or combining straw with biochar significantly increased soil pH (P<0.05). The B and P treatments significantly increased the cumulative N2O emissions by 41.6% and 28.5% (P<0.05), and the P+B, R, and R+B treatments significantly decreased the cumulative N2O emissions by 14.1%, 24.7%, and 36.7% (P<0.05), respectively. The addition of straw increased the net warming potential of greenhouse gases (NGWP). The addition of coir biochar significantly reduced the effect of straw on NGWP (P<0.05). The combined application of straw and biochar decreased NGWP, and P+B significantly decreased NGWP, but that with R+B was not significant (P>0.05). Adding straw or biochar significantly increased soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC) (P<0.05), and that of P+B was the highest (502.26 mg·kg-1). The combined application of straw and biochar increased soil microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN), and that of P+B was the highest. The N2O emission flux was negatively correlated with pH (P<0.01) and positively correlated with NH4+-N and NO3--N (P<0.01). The cumulative emission of N2O was negatively correlated with MBN (P<0.05). There was a significant negative correlation between NO3--N and MBN (P<0.01), indicating that the reduction in NO3--N was likely to be held by microorganisms, and the increase in the microbial hold of NO3--N also reduced N2O emission. In conclusion, the combined application of peanut straw and coconut shell biochar could significantly inhibit N2O emission and increase soil MBC and MBN, which is a reasonable measure to make full use of nitrogen fertilizer, reduce nitrogen loss, and slow down N2O emission after the season of Hainan vegetables.

The investigation of regional water purification functionality and its influencing factors holds significant pragmatic implications in understanding the potential of regional water purification, guiding context-specific regional comprehensive planning schemes, and environmental conservation measures. The study site, situated along the southern coast of Hangzhou Bay, represents a prototypical region characterized by intricate land-sea interactions that bear substantial economic and ecological functions. By assimilating a meticulously collected topographical and land-use dataset, in conjunction with site-specific meteorological records, the water purification model embedded within the integrated valuation of ecosystem services and trade-offs (InVEST) framework was employed to scrutinize the spatiotemporal dynamics of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) loads, discharges, and removals within the southern coast of Hangzhou Bay. The prime objective of this study was to unravel the differentials in water purification functionality under diverse developmental scenarios. The investigation unearthed distinct temporal discrepancies in N and P discharges and removals over two temporal dimensions. Relative to the benchmark year 2000, the total N load experienced a reduction of 276.72 t, whereas the N discharge and removals decreased by 140.86 and 137.86 t, respectively, in the year 2020. In contrast, the total P load observed an increase of 93.65 t, accompanied by a surge in P discharge and removals by 28.91 and 64.74 t, respectively. Spatially, the distribution pattern of N and P discharges exhibited a general inclination of elevated values in the northern region and subdued values in the southern region, with certain pockets in the southern region exhibiting pronounced peaks, intimately associated with land-use typologies. Simulation analyses conducted under distinct scenarios unveiled that under the natural development priority scenario, the N and P discharges within the study area amounted to 1 682.36 and 115.50 t, respectively. Conversely, under the scenario emphasizing economic development, the regional N and P discharges showed an approximate escalation of 83.02% and 79.93%, correspondingly. In contrast, under the scenario emphasizing environmental conservation, the regional N and P discharges exhibited a notable decline of approximately 79.96% and 56.44%, respectively. Hence, the scenario prioritizing the amalgamation of environmental conservation and development effectively reduced the N and P discharges within the region, bolstering the water purification functionality. The results derived from this study furnish a solid theoretical foundation for effectuating region-specific planning schemes fostering coordinated economic and ecological advancement within the study area.

BACKGROUND: Substance use behaviours (SUB) including smoking, alcohol consumption, and coffee intake are associated with many health outcomes. However, whether the health effects of SUB are causal remains controversial, especially for alcohol consumption and coffee intake. METHODS: In this study, we assess 11 commonly used Mendelian Randomization (MR) methods by simulation and apply them to investigate the causal relationship between 7 SUB traits and health outcomes. We also combine stratified regression, genetic correlation, and MR analyses to investigate the dosage-dependent effects. RESULTS: We show that smoking initiation has widespread risk effects on common diseases such as asthma, type 2 diabetes, and peripheral vascular disease. Alcohol consumption shows risk effects specifically on cardiovascular diseases, dyslipidemia, and hypertensive diseases. We find evidence of dosage-dependent effects of coffee and tea intake on common diseases (e.g., cardiovascular disease and osteoarthritis). We observe that the minor allele effect of rs4410790 (the top signal for tea intake level) is negative on heavy tea intake ( b ̂ G W A S = - 0.091 , s . e . = 0.007 , P = 4.90 × 10 - 35 ) but positive on moderate tea intake ( b ̂ G W A S = 0.034 , s . e . = 0.006 , P = 3.40 × 10 - 8 ) , compared to the non-tea-drinkers. CONCLUSION: Our study reveals the complexity of the health effects of SUB and informs design for future studies aiming to dissect the causal relationships between behavioural traits and complex diseases.


Many people smoke or consume alcohol, coffee and tea. The relationship between using these types of substance and the development of different diseases is not well understood. Previous studies have suggested that differences in genetics, i.e. inherited characteristics, could have an impact on how each substance impacts a particular person's health. We used a method called Mendelian Randomization to look at the impact of consuming tobacco, alcohol, coffee and tea on the development of various common diseases using genetic information. We found that relationships were complicated and many were dosage-dependent, but that consumption of a large amount of all substances tended to have negative health impacts regardless of lifestyle, behavioural or inherited characteristics.

BACKGROUND Hyperparathyroidism is a common issue in patients on long-term hemodialysis, necessitating parathyroidectomy with deep venipuncture. These patients frequently exhibit a heightened incidence of vascular calcification, complicating deep venipuncture and increasing the risk of associated complications. Therefore, a crucial aspect of preoperative assessment in this population involves identifying vascular calcification, with a preference for ultrasound-guided intraplane puncture. Special care is required to prevent blood vessel injuries and postoperative complications such as deep vein thrombosis. CASE REPORT We present the case of a 66-year-old woman with secondary hyperparathyroidism who encountered challenges during an internal jugular vein puncture, leading to subsequent thrombosis. Initial attempts were hindered by calcification of the internal jugular vein's vascular wall, resulting in stratified damage to the vessel's wall. However, the ultrasound-guided in-plane puncture technique successfully allowed the insertion of a central venous catheter without further damage to the vascular wall. On the postoperative fourth day, thrombus formation was observed in the damaged vascular wall from the initial puncture. CONCLUSIONS The ultrasound-guided in-plane puncture technique is advantageous in overcoming the difficulties associated with puncturing through deep vein calcification in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism. This technique also diminishes the likelihood of complications such as venous thrombosis.

Osthole (also known as Osthol) is the main anti-inflammatory coumarin found in Cnidium monnieri and severs as the exclusive quality-controlled component according the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. However, its underlying anti-inflammatory mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we demonstrated that Osthole treatment significantly inhibited the generation of TNF-α, but not IL-6 in the classical LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophage model. In addition, LPS induced the activation of both MAPK and NF-κB signalling pathways, of which the former was dose-dependently restrained by Osthole via suppressing the phosphorylation of JNK and P38 proteins, while the phosphorylation of IκB and P65 proteins remained unaffected. Interestingly, Osthole dose-dependently up-regulated the expression of the key cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway regulator α7nAChR, and the TNF-α inhibition effect of Osthole was also significantly alleviated by the treatment of α7nAChR antagonist methylbetaine. These results demonstrate that Osthole may regulate TNF-α by promoting the expression of α7nAChR, thereby activate the vagus nerve-dependent cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway.

The activation of toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) has been reported to attenuate astrocytes injury in central nervous system, but its effect on enteric glial cells (EGCs) remains unknown. Here, we confirmed that the residence of EGCs was regulated by TLR3 agonist (polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid, PIC) or TLR3/dsRNA complex inhibitor in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced mice. In vitro, TLR3 signaling prevented apoptosis in EGCs and drove the secretion of EGCs-derived glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor, 15-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid and S-nitrosoglutathione. PIC preconditioning enhanced the protective effects of EGCs against the dysfunction of intestinal epithelial barrier and the development of colitis in DSS-induced mice. Interestingly, PIC stimulation also promoted the effects of EGCs on converting macrophages to an M2-like phenotype and regulating the levels of inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1ß, TNF-α and IL-10, in DSS-induced mice. These findings imply that TLR3 signaling in EGCs may provide a potential target for the prevention and treatment of colitis.

Root development is tightly controlled by light, and the response is thought to depend on signal transmission from the shoot. Here, we show that the root apical meristem perceives light independently from aboveground organs to activate the light-regulated transcription factor ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL5 (HY5). The ROS balance between H2O2 and superoxide anion in the root is disturbed under darkness with increased H2O2. We demonstrate that root-derived HY5 directly activates PER6 expression to eliminate H2O2. Moreover, HY5 directly represses UPBEAT1, a known inhibitor of peroxidases, to release the expression of PERs, partially contributing to the light control of ROS balance in the root. Our results reveal an unexpected ability in roots with specific photoreception and provide a mechanistic framework for the HY5-mediated interaction between light and ROS signaling in early root development.

DNA methylation regulators (DMRs) play a key role in DNA methylation, thus mediating tumor occurrence, metastasis, and immunomodulation. However, the effects of DMRs on clinical outcomes and immunotherapy response remain unexplored in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). In this study, eight LUAD cohorts and one immunotherapeutic cohort of lung cancer were utilized. We constructed a DNA methylation regulators-related signature (DMRRS) using univariate and multivariate COX regression analysis. The DMRRS-defined low-risk group was preferentially associated with favorable prognosis, tumor-inhibiting microenvironment, more sensitivity to several targeted therapy drugs, and better immune response. Afterward, the prognostic value and predictive potential in immunotherapy response were validated. Collectively, our findings uncovered that the DMRRS was closely associated with the tumor immune microenvironment and could effectively predict the clinical outcome and immune response of LUAD patients.

Understanding the temporal and spatial brain locations etiological for psychiatric disorders is essential for targeted neurobiological research. Integration of genomic insights from genome-wide association studies with single-cell transcriptomics is a powerful approach although past efforts have necessarily relied on mouse atlases. Leveraging a comprehensive atlas of the adult human brain, we prioritized cell types via the enrichment of SNP-heritabilities for brain diseases, disorders, and traits, progressing from individual cell types to brain regions. Our findings highlight specific neuronal clusters significantly enriched for the SNP-heritabilities for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder along with intelligence, education, and neuroticism. Extrapolation of cell-type results to brain regions reveals important patterns for schizophrenia with distinct subregions in the hippocampus and amygdala exhibiting the highest significance. Cerebral cortical regions display similar enrichments despite the known prefrontal dysfunction in those with schizophrenia highlighting the importance of subcortical connectivity. Using functional MRI connectivity from cases with schizophrenia and neurotypical controls, we identified brain networks that distinguished cases from controls that also confirmed involvement of the central and lateral amygdala, hippocampal body, and prefrontal cortex. Our findings underscore the value of single-cell transcriptomics in decoding the polygenicity of psychiatric disorders and offer a promising convergence of genomic, transcriptomic, and brain imaging modalities toward common biological targets.

Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp tritici (Pst), is a destructive wheat disease pathogen. Thinopyrum elongatum is a valuable germplasm including diploid, tetraploid, and decaploid with plenty of biotic and abiotic resistance. In a previous study, we generated a stripe rust resistance wheat-tetraploid Th. elongatum 1E/1D substitution line K17-841-1. To further apply the wild germplasm for wheat breeding, we selected and obtained a new homozygous wheat-tetraploid Th. elongatum translocation line T1BS·1EL using genomic in situ hybridization (GISH), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), oligo-FISH-Painting, and the wheat 55K single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) genotyping array. The T1BS·1EL is highly resistant to stripe rust at the seedling and adult stage. Pedigree and molecular marker analyses revealed that the resistance gene was located on chromosome arm 1EL of tetraploid Th. elongatum, tentatively named Yr1EL. Besides, we developed and validated 32 Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR) markers and two kompititive allele specific PCR (KASP) assays which were specific to tetraploid Th. elongatum chromosome arm 1EL to facilitate marker-assisted selection for alien 1EL stripe rust resistance breeding. This will help us explore and locate the stripe rust resistance gene mapping on the 1E chromosome and deploy it in the wheat breeding program.

RESUMO

Plant meristems contain pools of dividing stem cells that produce new organs for plant growth and development. Environmental factors, including biotic and abiotic stresses and nutrient availability, affect meristem activity and thus the architecture of roots and shoots; understanding how meristems react to changing environmental conditions will shed light on how plants optimize nutrient acquisition and acclimate to different environmental conditions. This review highlights recent exciting advances in this field, mainly in Arabidopsis. We discuss the signaling pathways, genetic regulators, and molecular mechanisms involved in the response of plant meristems to environmental and nutrient cues, and compare the similarities and differences of stress responses between the shoot and root apical meristems.

KEY MESSAGE: The new stripe rust resistance gene Yr4EL in tetraploid Th. elongatum was identified and transferred into common wheat via 4EL translocation lines. Tetraploid Thinopyrum elongatum is a valuable genetic resource for improving the resistance of wheat to diseases such as stripe rust, powdery mildew, and Fusarium head blight. We previously reported that chromosome 4E of the 4E (4D) substitution line carries all-stage stripe rust resistance genes. To optimize the utility of these genes in wheat breeding programs, we developed translocation lines by inducing chromosomal structural changes through 60Co-γ irradiation and developing monosomic substitution lines. In total, 53 plants with different 4E chromosomal structural changes were identified. Three homozygous translocation lines (T4DS·4EL, T5AL·4EL, and T3BL·4EL) and an addition translocation line (T5DS·4EL) were confirmed by the genomic in situ hybridization (GISH), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), FISH-painting, and wheat 55 K SNP array analyses. These four translocation lines, which contained chromosome arm 4EL, exhibited high stripe rust resistance. Thus, a resistance gene (tentatively named Yr4EL) was localized to the chromosome arm 4EL of tetraploid Th. elongatum. For the application of marker-assisted selection (MAS), 32 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers were developed, showing specific amplification on the chromosome arm 4EL and co-segregation with Yr4EL. Furthermore, the 4DS·4EL line could be selected as a good pre-breeding line that better agronomic traits than other translocation lines. We transferred Yr4EL into three wheat cultivars SM482, CM42, and SM51, and their progenies were all resistant to stripe rust, which can be used in future wheat resistance breeding programs.

Purpose: Whether H1N1 infection-associated ocular manifestations result from direct viral infections or systemic complications remains unclear. This study aimed to comprehensively elucidate the underlying causes and mechanism. Method: TCID50 assays was performed at 24, 48, and 72 hours to verify the infection of H1N1 in human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (HRMECs). The changes in gene expression profiles of HRMECs at 24, 48, and 72 hours were characterized using RNA sequencing technology. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were validated using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting. CCK-8 assay and scratch assay were performed to evaluate whether there was a potential improvement of proliferation and migration in H1N1-infected cells after oseltamivir intervention. Results: H1N1 can infect and replicate within HRMECs, leading to cell rounding and detachment. After H1N1 infection of HRMECs, 2562 DEGs were identified, including 1748 upregulated ones and 814 downregulated ones. These DEGs primarily involved in processes such as inflammation and immune response, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, signal transduction regulation, and cell adhesion. The elevated expression levels of CXCL10, CXCL11, CCL5, TLR3, C3, IFNB1, IFNG, STAT1, HLA, and TNFSF10 after H1N1 infection were reduced by oseltamivir intervention, reaching levels comparable to those in the uninfected group. The impaired cell proliferation and migration after H1N1 infection was improved by oseltamivir intervention. Conclusions: This study confirmed that H1N1 can infect HRMECs, leading to the upregulation of chemokines, which may cause inflammation and destruction of the blood-retina barrier. Moreover, early oseltamivir administration may reduce retinal inflammation and hemorrhage in patients infected with H1N1.

In children with asymmetric growth on the medial and lateral side of limbs, if there still remains growth potential, the guided growth technique of hemi-epiphysiodesis on one side of the epiphysis is recognized as a safe and effective method. However, when the hemi-epiphysiodesis start to correct the deformities, how many degrees could hemi-epiphysiodesis bring every month and when to remove the hemi-epiphysiodesis implant without rebound phenomenon are still on debate. This article reviews the current studies focus on the effective time, correction speed and termination time of hemi-epiphysiodesis.
